Is Fat The New Thin?
By admin | August 5, 2008
When it comes to fat loss and getting fit, sometimes it really feels like we’re losing the battle. More and more people are obese.
Inevitably, that moves the “normal” line further and further away from what’s truly normal.
A great example of this is a story I read recently from my friend Ryan Lee
Apparently, the owner of an all you can eat buffet restaurant overcharged a couple of guys because of the sheer amount of food they ate.
I don’t want to get into whether this was the right or wrong thing to do.
The crucial part of this story to Ryan, to me, to anyone in the fitness business, and to all those who are worried about our obesity epidemic and its cost to our society, is the following:
Michael Borelli, after being told he was fat by the restaurant owner, said the following:
“I was stunned, that somebody would say something like that. I ain’t that fat, I only weigh 277″
Like Ryan, I was stunned! Is this guy for real? Is that how far we’ve fallen in our fat loss efforts? That 277 is no longer considered fat?
Is that why people aren’t losing weight? They don’t think they’re fat to begin with?
How can we possibly fix the problem if we don’t know a problem exists?
Look, unless you’re a genetic freak, like a pro bodybuilder or Shaq, 277 is fat. Accept that responsibility and do something about it.
You’ve got to stop blaming others for your situation. Take responsibility for your own actions and do something about it. Take action and fix it!
It’s amazing what you can do if you put your mind to it.
But you first have to recognize the problem. And just so you know, 277 IS fat!
