Did you ever wonder how Hillary Swank muscled up and got in such great shape to realistically portray a female boxer in the movie Million Dollar Baby?
I can tell you, Hillary didn’t sit around on the couch and she didn’t starve herself to get lean.
Three months prior to the star of filming for Million Dollar Baby, Hillary started boxing four to five days per week for an hour and a half a pop.
If you’ve ever done any kind of boxing or martial arts training, you understand how incredibly intense that is. And it burns a ton of calories, despite what most heavyweight boxers look like (emphasis on heavy).
Yes, Hillary did hit the weights and she hit the weights hard. According to her trainer, Grant Roberts Hillary did something different every weight training workout but each one was done to the limit with maximum intensity.
Hillary went from a fit 5-foot-seven 110 pounds to a lean mean fighting machine by adding 23 pounds of muscle for Million Dollar Baby.
According to Grant, Hillary couldn’t perform even half a chin-up when she started training but could crank out 10 unassisted full reps the day before filming began. And don’t forget, she was 23 pounds heavier at the time!
Hillary ate right as well (no unhealthy starvation diets) by consuming five to six small meals per day, mostly protein shakes, nuts, egg whites and a bunch of essential fatty acids and fish.
When it comes to healthy and fit female bodies there really aren’t that many in Hollywood. But one of them belongs to Hillary Swank. She can be my million dollar baby anytime.
