Too many people focus on lots of ab exercises and doing hundreds of reps of ab crunches in order to develop six pack abs.
But endless ab exercises such as crunches and leg lifts are not the key to getting sexy six pack abs.
If you train and eat properly, you can lean out and develop a flat belly without any ab exercises at all.

Of course, you should do them to develop the abdominal muscles and protect your lower back from injury but you don’t absolutely need them to get yourself a set of sexy abs.
A low body fat percentage is the biggest key to a flat sexy stomach.
One of the big drawbacks of traditional ab exercises like crunches is that you hardly burn any calories while performing the exercise.
If you want six pack abs you need to burn fat faster. If you want to burn fat, you need to burn calories.
Burning calories is a key component of losing fat and getting ripped abs.
Another problem is the lack of intensity. Most people do endless sets of high rep crunches.
Sure, you’ll “feel the burn” but you won’t burn a whole lot of calories.
Unfortunately, the abs are a muscle like any other in the body and need a higher level of intensity to develop them.
Endless ab exercises can also cause an imbalance between your abs and your lower back (which most people don’t train) causing potential back problems.
None of this sounds good, does it?
So, at least for a little while, forget the ab exercises for getting sexy six pack abs, okay?
If you want to burn fat and develop 6 pack abs, you need to be doing some form of weight training.
If you aren’t, start now. If you are, congrats.
We’re going to focus on getting six pack abs by the weight training exercises we select.
You see, certain weight training exercises work your abs extremely hard, allowing you to get a more effective ab workout in than any amount of crunches you could do.
And you’re doing so without doing any direct ab training.
Here are a few of my favorite non-ab ab exercises for sexy six pack abs.
1. Deadlifts
Deadlifts work your entire body from head to toes. Seriously.
And you have to keep your abs and lower back tight throughout the entire exercise.
2. Barbell Squats
Practically as effective as the deadlift. Again, your abs and lower back work throughout the set.
Both the deadlift and squat are extremely effective fat burning exercises and ab workouts, especially if you do high rep sets of 15 to 20 reps (or more) per set.
Ouch! But in a good, effective way.
3. Dumbbell Rows with a Twist
Grab two dumbbells and set up like you’re about to do push ups with the dumbbells so you get a better stretch at the bottom.
Now, in the “up” position of the pushup do a one arm dumbbell row .
Lower the dumbbell to the ground and then do the same rowing motion with the other arm.
Do a complete set of 8 – 12 reps (per arm). Trust me, you’ll work your abdominal muscles big time with this exercise.
Incorporate these “ab” exercises into your weight training program and you’ll be well on your way to your own set of sexy, six pack abs.
