What’s your best workout music? I know most of us listen to music when we workout. The right music can make all the difference.
For those of you that get stuck listening to your gym’s sound system, I’m so sorry!
So what’s in your play list? What gets you going for an awesome, energized workout?
For some reason, lately, I just can’t get a heavy dose of Eve 6’s debut album out of rotation on my iPod
There’s nothing spectacular about it. Simple, straight forward, uptempo rock songs. But they get me ready for a great workout session.
Velvet Revolver has been getting a lot of play list time lately as well.
Here is this morning’s workout playlist, dominated by Eve 6 and Velvet Revolver.

Gregg! You’ve gone old school! I’m like you, though, I like uptempo rock music to power me through my workouts. I’ll have to come back with a list but looking at your list for today, it makes me think of the 80’s rock bands and the 90’s bands like Soundgarden and Nirvana.
Hey Gregg,
I don’t really know Eve 6. I’ll have to check that out. Love Velvet Revolver and Kid Rock, though. I really like harder music when I’m working out. Groups like Tool, Rage Against the Machine and A Perfect Circle.
I’m really into Rhianna right now. I like her & Eminem on Love the Way You Lie. Also Rhianna on Who’s Gonna Run This Town, and Fireball. B.O.B Airplanes gets me moving too.
Cheryl,
Yeah, I through in some upbeat 80’s rock now and again with groups like Crue, Ratt, Cinderella, etc. Some of those 90’s groups are pretty good for working out, like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, etc. but some are way to mellow and make me want to fall asleep, like Pearl Jam (ugh!).
Joe,
Not a real RATM fan, but A Perfect Circle and Tool are good, especially on heavy leg or deadlift days!
John,
Can’t go with you on Rhianna. LOL! But Eminem is really good workout music, that’s for sure.
Gregg
Can’t do Rhianna at all. I’m with those people who like tool, rage against the machine. I also like system of a down. Another band I like is the black keys they have simple rifts and beats but they jam. Eve 6 can’t do that either.
Hey Kevin,
System of a Down is good for working out as well. Haven’t listened to them in awhile. Thanks for the reminder. Don’t think I’ve heard anything by The Black Keys. I’ll have to check them out.
Gregg
“I Only Drink Bud” – The Queers
“Punx ‘n Skinz” – Oi Polloi
“Story of My Life” – Social Distortion
“Borstal Breakout” – Sham69
“Diddlysquat” – Leatherface
RATM- born of a broken man, killing in the name of, ghost of tom joad are three that help me get in the zone. I actually did a 40 minute deadlift workout following Nick Nilsons muscle explosion program playing those three tracks over and over. It just worked for me that day. MNM lose your self and Beastie Boys sabotage are good for hip-hop mood.
Hi my favourite music to work out to is any
AC/DC but particularly Hell’s Bells .
John, Oi Polloi and Social Distortion are good choices. Todd, I do that a lot as well, play a few songs over and over again. My workout yesterday centered on deadlifts as well. Beastie Boys Sabotage is a good choice. In fact, I think their entire debut album, License to Ill is great for working out.
Todd, if you like Nick’s stuff I have something pretty cool you might want to check out.
Nick, my favorite band of all time. I was listening to their Black Ice album for awhile for my workouts. I’ll probably start including some Bon Scott stuff in my upcoming playlists.
You guys (and gals!) are giving me some good choices!
Gregg

Sabotage – Beastie Boys
In Da Club – 50 Cent

Kickstart My Heart – Crüe
Bust a Move – Young MC
Cheers.
Like others, mine’s constantly changing, but for some reason I always come back to the August Burns Red “Constellations” album. It just never gets old pumping me up. Then there’s always System of a Down, Deftones, Linkin Park, Tool, Rage, they’re all great.
