The first weekend of March I headed out to Columbus, Ohio for the Arnold Fitness Expo. I had a great time!
Got a lot of cards, made some potentially good connections for future fitness projects online but also for possible writing assignments in mags. Keep your fingers crossed.

Me and Beth Horn, aka “Venom” on American Gladiators
And a lot of people I know were working booths or at least there so it was a l of of fun, too. The fitness industry isn’t like the movie industry. People aren’t all located in one area so big events like the Arnold are the few times everyone is in one place.

Me and Jennifer Nicole Lee: I’ve known Jennifer for THREE years and it’s the first time I got to meet her in person
On the other hand, that was one of the problems! The Expo seems to have outgrown a convention center. I mean, the convention center is huge but they had like 170,000 people pass through over the weekend. It was crazy!

Me and Karen Pang
Karen says she’ll contribute a bonus to my next
ebook for you. That would be cool.
Did I workout while I was traveling? I did. No, I didn’t use the fitness center at the hotel, although there was one (and thanks again, Jesse and Kari, the hotel rocked!).
I worked out in my hotel room with a combination of bodyweight exercises and a kettlebell that I brought with me on the trip.

Me and Marzia Prince:
I interviewed Marzia for Body Talk Magazine back in 2007.
Yes, we ARE color coordinated. We rock!
Here’s a sample workout for you.
- Two Arm Kettlebell Swings – 10 Minutes
- Kettlebell Cleans – 5 minutes
Yes, I took short breaks. During the break I “jumped” rope. In other words, I used the jump rope motion without a jump rope. That way, there was no tripping!
- Push Ups – 3 sets (1 minute between sets)
Interval Training (20 seconds on / 20 seconds off)
- Bodyweight Squats – 8 cycles
- 2 minutes rest
- Mountain Climbers – 8 cycles
Simple but effective workouts in your hotel room.
Yes, they are all very tan and make me look very pale! Women!

Great pics. Heading on a cruise in a few weeks so thanks for the hotel room work out
Thanks!
Enjoy the cruise, Jenn! Sounds awesome!
you look exactly the same in every single one of those pics. geez where is the smile!
you know the smile that lights up your eyes
Looks like a lot of fun. I wanted to attend this year but unfortunately work got in the way. Do they have it around the same time frame every year??? Curious as maybe next year I can reserve that time frame for myself at work. Love the post and the pics though. My absolute favorite is JNL. I am soo jeolous. As for the pale face look, yeah I am sporting that myself these days and I live in Florida.
Hey Gregg!
It would have been great to see you at the Arnold – I was with Infinite Labs booth. We are working on a few projects together now. Looks like you had a good time! Just how the Arnold should be – I can barely believe it, but this was now my 11th Arnold! What?! Crazy I know – between being an athlete, vendor with Mak Attack, or partnering with another company. Take care!
Smiles,
Mak
Debs – LOL! I blame that on the camera and the people taking the pic. There was enough light that my flash wasn’t going off so I’d hold and hold a smile and thought they took the pic and THEN they’d take it! grrrrr!!
Marilyn – It was! And yes, it’s almost always the first weekend in March every year so plan ahead! LOL! Thanks for the pale faced sympathy!
Laura – How’d I miss you with that huge smile?? I went through that entire Expo!! In my defense it was HUGE! Wow! 11th?? No way! Didn’t you just turn 29?
Congrats on all the projects!
Gregg
Hi Gregg,
Looks as though you had a good time at the Arnold – the tans on the women looked much better than some of those on the men! Interesting pair of workouts.
All the best,
John
Hey John,
Fun and exhausting! But I also got a chance to network a lot as well. Yeah, some competition tans can look pretty bad. LOL!
Gregg
Wow, what inspiration, you give me.
Thank you so much.
Hey Lana! Surrounding yourself with other people who have a positive attitude about health and fitness is a great way to stay inspired and motivated.
Gregg
I really would love to go the Arnold Classic. So exciting

Luv the pics! Looks like so much fun and great opportunities to meet lots of awesome people!
KP!!
Likewise! I’m working on it right now!
Bill – thanks! I’ll be adding more stuff like that. Take a look around the site and you’ll find a few other workouts like that that use little or no equipment that you can use while traveling.
Thanks, Tara! It was a lot of fun.
Gregg
That is so exciting you get to meet all these people who are great inspiration to all of us after years of being in contact with them!!! Thanks for the workout sample as well!
Thanks Nat! The workout looks pretty simple but I bet it would surprise you.
Gregg
What great pics, thanks. And thanks again for the wonderful workout tips in your hotel room. I’m going to have to remember them.
Luv the pics! Looks like so much fun and great opportunities to meet lots of awesome people!
