3 Fat Loss Secrets You Can Use To Boost Your Metabolism
By admin | August 4, 2008
Put these three fat loss secrets into your fitness program and burn more calories every day.
1. Eat the Right Carbs
Carbs are not created equal and eating the wrong carbs at the wrong time can wreak havoc on your health and fat loss goals.
When you chow down on sugary, processed and refined carbs, you upset your system and flood your bloodstream with sugar.
A meal heavy in refined carbs will cause your body to overproduce insulin, cause your blood sugar to plunge and starve your brain of fuel.
The natural result is to crave sweets and high carb foods.
It’s a never ending cycle that feeds on itself, causing you to crave sweets more and more, throwing your body out of wack as you pile on the fat.
Avoid foods like, pasta, pancakes, doughnuts, cookies, candy bars, pizza, and white bread.
Look to include good carb foods like sweet potatoes, fresh fruit, certain grains, vegetables and yams.
2. Drink Water the Right Way
Here’s another little trick you can use.
Instead of just drinking water, begin drinking ice cold water.
You see, there is a metabolic cost to eating.
In other words, the digestion of food, as you’ll read about in the next tip, takes calories.
Well, so does drinking ice cold water.
The body needs to heat up this water in order to be able to use it properly and doing so takes energy, i.e., calories.
You can burn another 50 to 100 calories a day by drinking one half gallon to a gallon of ice cold water per day.
It doesn’t seem like much.
However, in addition to all the other benefits of taking in enough water, by drinking ice cold water, you can drop almost a full pound of fat each month, or about 10 pounds per year.
3. Eat More Protein
Every time you eat, your body burns calories in order to digest the food.
Protein has a higher metabolic cost (you burn more calories) via digestion than either carbs or fat. Eat more protein. Burn more fat.
When you don’t eat enough protein your body craves carb-rich foods due to unstable blood sugar levels.
We’ve already seen what that can do. Protein helps curb cravings and gives you a sense of fullness that carb-rich foods don’t.
Have a craving? Eat some protein.
Stick with foods like eggs, yogurt, turkey, lean beef, chicken, fish and protein powders.
These three fat loss secrets can easily be incorporated into any health and fitness regimen, boosting your metabolism and making it easier to avoid fat loss crushing binges!
